The girls are back from their trip! Sounds like they had a great time, though A didn't like some of the Gettysburg content and found it scary. They learned a fair amount about the Civil War, though not as much as they could have. Daddy did some quizzing tonight. 🙂 Hershey was a big hit. The girls are SO cute. They hate scary rides and went on baby rides the whole time. They showed us videos tonight of the rides they went on – EXTREMELY tame. They went on the baby Viking Ship, the bumper cars, and some plane ride that went around and around. (A actually sat that one out.) They said they were rejected from other rides they wanted to go on for being too tall. Adorable. They showed us videos of rides their classmates went on that were VERY scary. I am glad the girls don't like to go on roller coasters. Wonder where they get that from?
I met the buses tonight at Lafayette with the other 5th grade parents. It was fun to see all the kids getting off in the same t-shirts, carrying bags of amusement park souvenirs. All of us parents were comparing notes on whether we'd heard anything from our kids. I loved getting so many texts from them – a check in favor of getting them phones.
Some of the stuff they came back with: chocolate (kisses, white kit kat for me); a gecko for N; magnet; lots of small stuffed animal things (including 2 stuffed donuts) that they won in games; a funky water bottle for A. I'm sure there is more.
Meanwhile, back at TSNS, it was N's last day of camp AND his birthday celebration at school. He got to wear a crown and everyone sang to him. We had shabbat in his classroom and then a sing with Sally upstairs. Then to the end of year picnic with moonbounces and petting zoo. Not a bad day for N!
Here is an email I got from his teacher Kathryn today:
Is he the cutest birthday boy ever?!!! He's very excited. I hope he and you have a wonderful Monday. I look forward to Wednesday.
Kathryn
Plus this photo. I have more to share, but am too tired to do it tonight. The little boy in the track jacket in the back is N's best friend, Carter.
