Tonight, a woman came to our house to pick up some free frames I had put on the listserv. She was an older woman, and it took her a long time to determine whether the frames I was giving away were going to fit the artwork she wanted them for. It involved a trip back to her car and then about a half an hour in our entryway taking the art out and putting it in the frames. N sat with her the whole time, helped her and made conversation. It was the cutest thing (and surprisingly helpful because I was making dinner). When she left, he said, "She was so nice!" He seriously made a new friend. I could tell that she was very taken with him too.
N came home with a lunchbox that he had made from construction paper for school today, with the rules of the cafeteria printed on it. (DCPS – rules, rules, rules. Always.)
He said the picture at the bottom is of a girl in the sun.
I told N tonight that he is very entertaining and a lot of fun, and that I love that he is 5. He said that he liked being 3 better, and that being 4 was his LEAST favorite. Jury's out on 5, apparently.
Nats beat the Astros tonight in a nailbiter and my heartrate is still coming down.
Girls had an uneventful second day of school. Still no math or science teachers, but they are apparently showing up soon.
