OBX Night 1

We are in the OBX! Yay! Let the relaxation begin.

Today was an all-time record: 4.5 hours door to door, DC to Duck. We arrived here around 2:30, had lunch in Duck, and then drove to Corolla to pick up the keys to our house. We're in our old, old house – Song of the Sea, P169, way north in Corolla. And it's good to be back! This house is spacious and well-laid out. The girls have a lot of memories here, as do we. We even made orange juice freezes tonight. We're tired – Daddy and I are really beat – but looking forward to a relaxing few days here.

Sarah took Lucky for the day today because Marie couldn't take him til tonight. Here is the email update she sent me tonight:

All went GREAT with Lucky. I truly love him, and John was VERY fond of him as well, much to my pleasure. He ate about 1/2 of his breakfast and 2/3 of his dinner, I would say. He LOVED Brookville dog park, as he had an endless supply of sniffable opportunities. He and Chloe seemed quite content with each other. When I see her with a small dog, I realize that most of her crankiness with canines stems from fear of big dogs — she just wants to protect her body. Lucky poses no threat to her body, so she is happy to have him around and was very unpossessive of us in his presence. They were alone for about 2 hours this afternoon, and while I fantasized that I would come home and they would be snuggling together on the couch, they seemed happy in separate areas of the house when we came home. After dinner, Chloe and I walked Lucky to Marie's, which provided everyone with a happy walk. We are happy to sit Lucky any time. He was great with our guests (we were 10 at brunch) and was just very low maintenance. He is SO affectionate, which is all it takes for me to fall in love with a dog.

So cute. Here they are:
