Orthodontist Appointments

M had to come up with some sentences for homework tonight that use homophones. I thought some of them were pretty funny:

  • "My family went on a roadtrip and we didn't know where we were."
  • "My mom took me to a store because I need more clothes to wear.
  • "I said politely, 'No I'm busy' when my parents asked me to take out the garbage." [Note: we've never asked M to take out the garbage.]
  • "I know what 12×9 is (108)."

Both girls had orthodontist appointments this morning. I love orthodontist appointments that end with, "We will see you back in 5-6 months." Today was one of those appointments. It was A's first appointment with Dr. Byrd, who thought that A's teeth looked fine. There is probably overcrowding in there, which means that she may need some extractions of baby teeth later this year. But that's a ways off. M's teeth look good post-extractions this fall – the question is whether her canines (permanent) or bicuspids (to be removed) come in first.

Exciting news: M will be in the spelling bee on Friday morning! We are so excited. We weren't sure it would happen because she wasn't able to compete for one of her class' spots. But she has attended all of the practices and the teachers decided that she could participate. Yay!

And exciting news on A's front as well – Notebusters starts up again in March, and the theme this year is The Wizard of Oz and The Wiz.

Signing off.
