Parents’ Night at TSNS

Tonight was Parents' Night at TSNS. We got to see a slideshow of all of the kids in the school, including 2 adorable pics of N, and then went to his classroom to learn more about the Dagim class. We were really impressed with his teachers and all of the little rituals and activities they do in their class every day. We brought home a book for him with pictures of everyone in his class, which he immediately read (because of course he was still up) and loved. It's a sweet little classroom and we are so lucky that he is there.

M&A are running for class office and their speeches are due tomorrrow. Here they are:

Maddie Feldman

Hi.  My name is Maddie Feldman, and I am running for Secretary. I would love to have your vote. I want to be Secretary because I love to write, and I like to record things in writing and in pictures. I’ve also really loved my experience on Student Council.  It may not sound fun to some of you, but I actually look forward to writing the summaries and details of all of the meetings.  I would be honored to represent you as secretary of Lafayette Student Council, and make this a memorable year for you.

Here are some of my ideas.  First, I want to get in touch with the Northwest Current and make sure that our school is represented in it.  If you haven’t heard of it, the Northwest Current is a newspaper that is sent around the northwest quadrant of D.C.  People from different schools write updates about activities going on at their schools, but Lafayette is never included. So this is the year to start, and I’m excited to do it!

Second, I look forward to contributing to Bear Facts, and will write about what is happening for our school newspaper.  Because I love photography, I want to take as many pictures as possible of all of you, which I’ll submit to the school and local newspapers. So don’t be surprised if you open the paper one day or click on the link to the Bulletin and see a picture of YOU!

Most importantly, I want to know YOUR ideas.  What will make Lafayette known throughout the city, or even across the region?

This is why YOU should vote MADDIE FELDMAN FOR SECRETARY!!!

(I plan to show the real object or picture during my speech.  For example, I might hold up a Bear Facts edition, or a copy of the Northwest Current when I talk about those subjects.)

Alexa Feldman

Hello.  I’m Alexa Feldman and I’m running for Vice President.  I will try my absolute hardest to make this a much more fun year of school.

Here are some of my ideas to make things more fun and meaningful.

  • I really want to get a chocolate fountain for the winter dance.  I have looked into it a lot and have found one that is great.  I am positive I can get it.
  • We could have a fundraiser for an animal shelter, where people can donate money for the animals.
  • I also want to have a spring dance, which would be really fun.
  • Another idea is to bring back the Friday Fun Raffle.  In case you don’t know what this is, it’s when we put your names in a hat and we pick three people out of the hat. The people who get picked get to pick a prize.
  • I want to plan a monthly Monday Movie Afternoon where we show a movie in the Cafetorium after school.
  • I will work to bring chocolate milk back to Lafayette.
  • The last idea I have is that we could come up with a new game or event for Field Day.

Most importantly, I want to know your ideas, and I will try very hard to make your and my ideas happen.  That is why we can have an idea box (if necessary) so you can put your ideas in it and I will check it very often.

I am pretty organized, so I already looked into all of my ideas.  I know that they will work! That is why you should vote for me for vice president.
