Passport to History

Stuff to remember from today.

M's soccer game. Good game, well-matched, she played well. Final score was 0-0. My favorite part was that N decided to go sit and watch the game from the Metros' bench, sitting next to mean scary Jorge. Why he thought that would be a good idea, I have no idea. But he plunked himself down and sat next to Jorge, even when Jorge was yelling his usual "Ai Ai Ai" when he was unhappy and shouting non-encouraging things at the girls. But N seemed to soften Jorge, who encouraged N to shake hands with the refs at the end of the game. Keep in mind that NO one other than Jorge or the Metros ever sits on that bench!

This afternoon we spent 2 hours driving through the city to take photos for M&A's Fourth Advisory Passport to History. We went to some cool places we hadn't been before – a civil war fort (Fort Stevens) off 13th Street, President Lincoln's cottage near Upshur and 2nd Street, Ford's Theater, the Petersen house (where Lincoln was taken), the Archives, some African-American Civil War memorials near Thomas Circle, and a statue of James Buchanan in Meridien Hill Park. We were really all over the place in a lot of neighborhoods. Here are some of M's photos from today (waiting on A to send me hers).

We commented when we got back that it had been fun driving all over the city, but that we were so happy to return to CCDC, which felt spacious and calm and familiar.
