Buppie gave the girls a piano lesson today. Here is her report:

Maddie loves to work out of the piano book. Alexa likes to fiddle with the keys.  When I showed her the song that is played on the black keys (part  of the repertoire of  piano duets for non-players), she wanted to play it for Maddie.  Calling Maddie over she started.  Now whenever Alexa plays "a piece" and makes a mistake, she ALWAYS starts over from the beginning.  This requires on the part of the listener, the patience of a  — a grandma!  Maddie was phenomenal in waiting and listening.  Gently and tactfully, she said that because she had already heard that part (at least a dozen times), she felt free to go.  Her little flicker of her eyes to me said, "I know you understand, Grandma."  It was SO mature.  And Alexa was SO determined.
