Wow, serious reader mail today! Will do my best to respond…

Ok, more about the VIP dinner. POTUS and FLOTUS, it turns out, were ALSO celebrating their anniversary dinner (their 19th, our 10th) at the same restaurant we were on Saturday night. (Restaurant Eve in Alexandria). It was very exciting. I was sitting directly opposite her, though slightly diagonal, so I had a great unobstructed view of them the whole time. I kept thinking, "Oh my god, that's the PRESIDENT. Eating right here." No one bothered them. I didn't take a picture, and I didn't post on Facebook until after they'd left, which took major restraint. It was so cool. They are a very nice-looking couple. He checked his Blackberry a few times throughout the dinner. He drank a martini and she had red wine. They ordered the five-course tasting menu, chef's choice, and he and I had the same dessert. I think Michelle gave him a card. That's about it!

As for the Nutcracker, any part is a great part. (At least that's what we've been instructed to say to our kids). Between us, I'd like them to be soldiers or clowns, but they may end up as snow angels. If they were bumblebees again, I'd be fine with that. Hoping for no mushrooms, and also hoping they get the same part, which will simplify my life exponentially.

M had baseball practice today – in the spitting rain. I am sure A was really excited to go hang out at the playground during that hour.
