Representing the United States…

Today was the last day of the session at gymnastics. This meant that after the girls’ regular class, there was a medal ceremony.  Daddy and I both missed the medal ceremony for the fall session because we were out of town, so we had been looking forward to being there for this one, camera in hand.

After class, M&A’s group (Twinkling Stars), along with the other groups meeting at the same time, proceeded in turn to a small stage, where they each received a gold medal while listening to Olympic music. Even before it was M&A’s group’s turn to go up to the stage, A turned to me and said she wanted me to go up with her. Then M said the same thing. So I went up with both of them, reluctantly. Then they both insisted on holding my hand while we were up there. (I was the only parent up on the stage). Then they both refused to wear their medals, and A started fussing about the stamp they had put on her hand. (Of course, they get a stamp on their hand every week, but this was the first week she fussed about it.)

As soon as it was over, A turned to me and said, "I don’t want to do that medal thing again."

Such a proud moment.

I know it’s not always easy to be a patient and loving mom, but you do it so well. Congratulations!
