Room Redo and Red Confetti

Tonight, when I got home from work, the girls had a big secret up their sleeves. They wouldn't let me go in their room because they wanted to surprise me. Then they got hard at work making red confetti in preparation for the big reveal. It took a lot of effort to get them to do their homework, but they finally did. Then it was more confetti-making. Then I finally got them upstairs. After teeth-brushing, we got to the big moment…

… when they revealed that they had moved their beds to the other side of the room. Totally cute because the beds are moved next to each other like it was before, but not that cute because I can't open the dresser drawers or get to the bookshelves. I told them that it's temporary but that we can leave it like that for a few days.

The purpose of moving the beds was to play "Freeze Dance", which entails someone opening my birthday card from Tuvana, which plays "Celebration" by Kool and the Gang, and then closing it suddenly while the other two are dancing. WHen the music stops, you must freeze. If you move, then you have to take over the card. We played a few rounds of Freeze Dance, and then A threw the container of confetti. It went all over the place, as expected, and took FOREVER to clean up (which they had promised we would do before bed). They kept apologizing that it took so long to clean up. I told them not to worry about it, that we knew it was going to take a while, that I wasn't mad at all, and that they shouldn't apologize! That said, it did take a loooong time to clean up.

Such cuties. They are so earnest – it's adorable.

M and A are so inventive and cute. It’s wonderful that mommy and daddy allow them to use their imaginations and create fun things. I’m so proud of them.
Love,
Aunt Ann
