San Francisco!

Tonight is our last night of vacation! Here is what we have done since my last post, where we ended up in Palo Alto and then drove to SF.

We've been in San Francisco since Friday night. Saturday was a busy day of touring around. Here is what we did:

  1. Woke up and went for dim sum at Daddy's favorite, Yank Sing.
  2. Went back to the hotel to get the car.
  3. Driving tour of SF! Up to Nob Hill, Pacific Heights, Presidio Heights, Crissy Field, Golden Gate Bridge.
  4. Across the bridge to Sausalito, where we got out and walked around.
  5. Back to SF, to Sea Cliff, Golden Gate Park, Sunset Beach, Haight Ashbury, the Castro.
  6. Back to the hotel! Some rest time.
  7. Dinner with Karen Scarr downtown.
  8. Home to bed.

That was a busy day! But gorgeous.

Sunday, sadly, was rainy. But we still did a lot.

  1. N, M and I took a tour of Oracle Park, which was really fun. Despite the cloudy (but not yet rainy) weather, the views were great and we loved the tour. Except for the clueless tour guide, who turned to an Asian-American man and said, of Ichiro Suzuki, "Oh, someone from your country!"
  2. Met A and Daddy at the Ferry Building for brunch.
  3. Back to the hotel to switch to adjoining rooms.
  4. Off to SFMOMA.
  5. Then to return the car and go to the Museum of Ice Cream. There was a dicey moment when it looked like we weren't going to get into the museum, and the kids were very disappointed. But we found a loophole and it all worked out.
  6. Then back to hotel and then back to the Ferry Building and dinner at The Slanted Door.

Today was gorgeous again – sunny and sometimes warm. We didn't get the earliest start but we did cover a lot of ground on foot – no more car.

  1. Walk from hotel to Telegraph Hill/Coit Tower. Amazing views from the top.
  2. Walk from Coit Tower through North Beach and a bit of Chinatown before hopping in an Uber to Union Street.
  3. Walk down Union Street and lunch at pricey pasta/acai bowl/salad places.
  4. Walk back up Russian Hill and down Lombard Street.
  5. Uber to the SalesForce building, where Covington is, for amazing sunset views.
  6. Back to hotel to rest.
  7. Walk through Union Square and then Uber to the Mission for burritos.
  8. Back to hotel.
  9. Pack, light menorah for a bonus night.

WHEW! It has been a great trip and we've seen so many beautiful places and things. Here are some more pics:
