Today was the spelling bee. M did a wonderful job. She made it three rounds, which for a third grader is amazing. There was a bit of a snafu in round 4. The speller AFTER M went up to the microphone BEFORE M, and got M's word, which was "transfixed". When the judges realized that the spellers were out of order, they stopped the turn and had M come up instead. Then they scrapped the word altogether (standard practice in such a situation) and gave M a new word, RADICAL. Of course she knew how to spell TRANSFIXED but didn't know that RADICAL ended in -AL. So that was the story. We are SO proud of her.
