I hope the girls always remember the high they are on right now. They said it was the best birthday they've ever had (and this was before they opened presents).
After the usual breakfast in bed prepared by Daddy, it was a regular school day til about 3. Grandma Sandy brought a homemade trifle over, and A went on a walk with Jessie and Alida. And of course all the well-wishes on social media.
But the real fun started at 4. Friends came over to the front lawn and hung out at a social distance for THREE HOURS. Some people came and left, some people stayed. But it was all so nice. It was sunny and sort of warm, and everyone was just so happy to see their friends. Here's who came:
The GDS Crew: Maddie C., Maya, Phoebe, Sophie Z., Kira, Jamie, Annabel, Aidan K-M, Hannah and Andrew drive-by
The Sidwell Crew: South, Sophia, Charlotte, Jessie, Gilley, Ben & Isabel, Natalie, Sophie S.
The Neighborhood Crew: Jessie (drive-by), Alida (drive-by) and John Bailey
The girls were so, so happy. M knew people were coming over, but not exactly who, and A had no idea.
And then! Phoebe and Charlotte stayed for dinner – also a surprise. They sat outside (brr) at a social distance and we got Shake Shack and they had a lovely time catching up. Both Phoebe and Charlotte said that it was the best thing that happened to them during quarantine.
And then! We just opened a ton of presents, mostly clothes the girls wanted. They are so happy!!
Other highlights of the birthday: Grandma Sandy's visit with trifle; chocolate cake delivery and phone calls from Grandpa Ron and Grandma Dina; calls from Grampy; calls from Darrah/Jason/Sydney/Eden; call from Jonathan and Sarah; TikTok video dances from the Milstein/Feldmans; cupcakes from Abby (!); balloons from Party Warehouse; cards and visit from Imogene; sweet cards from Nate. I mean, what more could there be???
I don't have blowing-out-cake pics but here are a bunch of others:
