The Final Draft of Yesterday’s Post

Here is the post that I was too tired to write last night. Thankfully, I have a handy outline to remind me of what I wanted to include!

A Wants Bunk Beds. Last night Daddy and I went to a birthday dinner for the father of a friend of M&A's. The friend shares a bedroom with her sister and they have bunk beds. A now says that she wants to have a bunk bed, but only ever sleep on the top. M says she'd consider bunk beds if they could rotate who sleeps on the top. I said that bunk beds would free up a lot of space in their room. A then had this idea: turn Mommy and Daddy's bed into a bunk bed. The girls would sleep on top, we'd sleep on the bottom, and their room could be a big library. Hmmm. Good thing that the girls' beds ARE bunk beds – we have the ladder and conversion kit in the basement. Maybe it's time!

M Show and Tell With Pillow: M brought her needlepoint pillow to school this week for show and tell. She was so excited. When I asked her how it went, she said, "It was fine. People weren't really all that interested, and no one had any questions." She said she was sort of sad about it. Awww. Fortunately, her teacher said she really liked it. M just said, "Are you writing that on the blog?? Aw." but not in an "aw that's cute" way, but "aw, do you have to?".

"Stick Your Blankie Is The Worst Thing In My Life". M likes to do something called "stick your blankie". She balances on the armrest of the couch, head down, stomach on the armrest, and lies there for long lengths of time, bouncing a little. She has done it since she was a very little girl. It's called "Stick Your Blankie" because she used to stick her blanket under her when she did it. We are trying to curb it a little, in no small part because the cloth on the couch's armrest is totally worn away at this point. Last night I told her to stop doing it, and A said, "Stick your blankie is the worst thing in my life!". Really?

Fencing. Last night the girls took these styrofoam sticks from the basement and made them into epees (my word, not theirs) for fencing. I am not sure where they saw fencing, but they did a great job!

Daisy Troops. Today was the first day of the girls' Daisy Troop. A thought it was boring and lame, and she wants to do what the bigger girls do, like sell cookies. She said all the kids in Daisy Troop were babies. (I think most are in first grade.) I will investigate. M seemed to like it OK.

Today is a ballet-filled day. Class this morning and rehearsal this afternoon. In between: grocery shopping! Then tonight Daddy and I will see "Hair".
