TIC Reports

Daddy is en route home from Afghanistan and N has been declared non-contagious by the pediatrician, so we are clear to go to PA tomorrow. Yay! We are excited to see our cousins and Grandma and Grandpa, and especially excited to see M&A, who we miss VERY much.

Tonight, N and I went back to BBM for ice cream. It is very difficult to get him to leave once we are there!

I wanted to share some reports on M&A from TIC Camp (which are much more extensive than the reports we get from Lafayette!). These are about their tech classes:

M: "M has been great to have as one of my campers this year at TIC. M and her partner Natalie created a wonderful project full of strategic games and quiz questions. M played a very important role in making this game. She wisely used all the programming she was taught and made use of complex techniques such as project variables and conditional statements. I was certainly impressed by how quickly she caught on to the languate and her ability really shined through in her final project."

"M contributed to the group in many ways, one of which was by using her musical talents and her knowledge of sports. M used the computer's piano to create the baseball melody theme tune. This really added a lot of character to the game and it was definitely enjoyable to hear. I was extremely glad that M share her musical talents with the group, she was a breath of fresh air for everyone To sum up, it was fantastic to have M as a camper this year at TIC and I hope to see her return next year."

A: "A was full of ideas, and each of them was an exciting new experience for her. Every new task was a challenge that she wanted to tackle, and she'd learn very quickly the best way to complete them. Trip Arund the World was one of the first ideas she and her partner had and I could tell they were very excited about the whole process of making it. A was always very friendly and polite and would share the computer perfectly with Brianna, her partner."

"A was always so excited to do Digital Arts. Every morning she would come to me and ask if Technology was the first activity for juniors. Her excitement and willingness to work were her defining characteristics and that could be seen in her projects. A always had good ideas and was always open to new ones from her fellow campers and I. Her friendly personality and bright smile made the room's atmosphere very pleasant and a wonderful place to work. Having A in Digital Arts this session has been a delight. I'd love to see her again at TIC next summer!"

And here are reports about their sports activities:

M: "M was a really good athlete. She always fought hard not matter what the circumstances were in the game. One sport that M excelled in was Get Your Trash Out of My Backyard. During the game she realize that there were a lot of balls falling to the back of the gym. She then developed a strategy where she would go get those balls and throw them over the wall. This strategy turned out to be very successful and it helped her team get the edge they needed to win. Another sport that M did very well in was J-ball. During J-ball M demonstrated her strength because she got on base many times, however in the field she showed why she was especially awesome. In the field, M caught a high and hard hit fly ball. This catch ended the inning and saved many runs from being scored by the other team. M was an athlete who worked hard and gave it her all, which is essential to have in sports!

"M contributed many positive things to our group this session. M was very friendly, which helped our group get to know each other on the first day. Our group quickly became tight knit, which gave us more time to have fun! M also was always calm and collected in any situation. She understood that camp is a place you have fun and her attidtide helped our group have fun and play hard! She also was very close to her sister A. A came into our group a day late and M made sure she felt comfortable with everyone else. M was a fantastic camper to have this session and I really hope I can see her at TIC in the future."

A: "A was a great camper to have at TIC this session! One sport that A excelled in was soccer. A loved playing soccer and she sure was good at it. A was very skilled at soccer because she showed great speed, agility and the skill at tracking the ball. Another sport that A was great at was Newcomb. During Newcomb A did a great job in catching and throwing the volleyball over the net. She also made it far into the round and helped set up her teammates. A was a really good athlete and I hope she keeps working and improving in sports."

"A contributed an upbeat attitude and positive energy to our group. A showed up every day with a smile and ready to tackle every activity we did. This helped our group start the day because it pumped everyone up so we could have maximum fun! A also came into our group a day late, but she adapted quickly. Within the first day she made friends with everyone in our group and made our group a better experience! She fought extremely hard in every sport and her continuous positive energy and upbeat attitude was contagious at camp. A was so much fun to have at TIC this year and I hope I can see her again!"
