Tough Night

The girls had no school today because DC cancelled school to make sure that the buildings were all structurally sound. I don't know how they managed to find engineers to inspect 150 buildings in one day on 12 hours' notice, but that's apparently what they did. Back to school tomorrow.

On their day off, the girls had a playdate with Emily and then went with Imogene in the afternoon to the new Livingston playground.

We had a rough night all around. I came home from work and noticed that Allie had a new pouch of fluid hanging down from her chest area. I was immediately very worried and called the vet after some deliberation, and they said that I should bring her in. I was very concerned that she might not be returning home with me, and had the girls give her a hug, to say goodbye. This upset them very much, especially M tonight, and spurred a lot of tears and difficult questions, which Daddy had to deal with at home.

Meanwhile I went to the vet for almost 3 hours with Allie. The good news is that she came home with me. We're not sure what the fluid is from or why it's there, but it's not putting her in imminent danger.

Phew. Rollercoaster.

Thinking about you guys and Allie. Glad to hear you got to bring her home last night.

I’m so happy that Allie is better. I can imagine how M and A felt when they had to say goodbye to her. It’s so difficult to lose one you love. Let’s hope things will remain better for Allie and the rest of you.
Love,
Aunt Ann
