Upside Down Thursday

Today did not go exactly as planned.

M woke up in the middle of the night with a fever. She and Daddy were up for quite a while, and A was too because she was worried about M. I learned of this at 5:00 AM – I was on a trip for work and supposed to go to a conference today. Instead, I left about 4 hours early and came straight home. I met Daddy and M at the doctor’s office. Good news: no strep or ear infection. She does maybe have a sinus infection and is now on antibiotics. This is amazing – she didn’t flinch when they did the throat culture!

So M missed school. A came home from school/playdate around 2, and the girls hung out and watched TV. M took a nap – she needed it. Then the three of us went to see the Olympic gymnastics superstars at the Verizon Center. It wasn’t at all what I expected. It was dark, with loud irritating "High School Musical" type music. Shawn Johnson and Nastia Liukin were there, but both were kind of tarted-up in sleazy outfits. M seemed to like it, but A wanted to go home soon after we got there. We only stayed for about 30 minutes. One funny thing – they said it was Nastia’s birthday and the whole stadium sang to her. (I kind of wonder if it’s like the Wiggles concert, where every day appears to be Wags the Dog’s birthday). On the way home, M said, "I can’t believe it was Nastia’s birthday. We didn’t even bring her a card!"

We have a big weekend – off to NY tomorrow for Darrah’s wedding! And it’s Halloween!

On the way home tonight, A said, "I have a lot of dreams where I am petting Allie and she is in my bed." M said, "Don’t you dream about holding my hand and marrying me?" A said, "No."

I probably won’t post for a few days. Have a great weekend, all!

Update: As of 1:48 AM Friday, A has a fever of 102.5. Oy.
