A Passover question: What made Monday night different from all other nights? On all other nights, I fall asleep on the couch while working on the computer, but manage to wake up before midnight to get a P&B post up. On Monday night, I fell asleep at 10:30 in the middle of an Oprah show about motherhood, and didn't wake up until 1:30 AM. Hence no post last night.

And, an addendum to Sunday's post: Daddy took the girls out on Sunday for an adventure while I was doing my long bike ride. They went to get the girls' bikes fixed (M's wheel had a dent that kept the tire from staying inflated), then went on a nature walk in Rock Creek Park, and then checked out the stables near our house. (I used to ride horses there when I was little.)  They were gone for a long time, lest this blog leave the impression that Daddy is a delinquent Daddy!

This morning, M sat on my bed and chatted with me while I was getting dressed. It was hysterical. She said a few really funny things:

  • Of a potential outfit: "Mommy, I think that's too much black."
  • Of a new white shirt: "I like that shirt, but I don't think I like it for today. The ruffles – I don't know – I just think maybe not for today."
  • Of a shirt I said was too wrinked: "I like the wrinkles."
  • Of a brownish skirt I was having trouble pairing: "That's black, so it goes with anything. How about that pink or red sweater?"
  • Of shoes: "Can you wear my favorite shoes?" (She is referring to a pair of black and white sandals that are very uncomfortable and have been stashed away in another closet since last fall. It is 45 degrees and rainy today.)
  • Of my body: "Mommy, you have huge boobs, like mountains". (Um, what?)

Today they went back to school after over a week off. Tomorrow they are off again for that VERY important holiday, The Last Day of Passover. Yes, I know. Thank god they don't have school so that we can spend the whole day at home celebrating this very important day.

Last night instead of trying to make dinner with the girls "helping" I just sat on my bed with them and read them books and did I Spy. Surprisingly, it was much more relaxing than cooking with the girls. Perhaps that is a lesson. Then again, I don't love cooking at 9 PM, which is what I did.

Tonight Daddy and I are going out to dinner with some friends and Sara is coming to babysit when Imogene leaves. We are hoping to get home before they go to bed.
