Weekend Wrap Up

It was a very long and full weekend and I am finally posting!!

The girls were home from school Friday, and had a very long and, from what I heard, successful, playdate with their friend Emily. Then on Friday night, Grandpa Ron and Grandma Dina came in for the weekend. They hung out with the girls for a while, and then we had a pre-fast dinner. Daddy, Grandma and Grandpa went to services, and I stayed home with the girls and went to bed early. I am finally starting to feel better.

Saturday morning, we went to the family service, and then hung out for a bit on the playground. Then it was rushrushrush to ballet, and errands afterwards. We stopped at the toy store and got the girls the famous game Sleeping Queens, which we learned how to play today. It's a lot of fun.

We ran some more errands Saturday afternoon, and then went to a break-fast at Grandma Sandy's friend Ellie's house, which we do every year. Everyone ooh-ed and aah-ed over how big the girls are.

On the way to the break-fast, I had a very interesting conversation with the girls. First, we talked about the difference between cash, credit cards, and checks. I think they understood it. Then, A asked me what my favorite song is. That's a very hard question, of course, but I told her that my favorite song from the 80s is "Everybody Wants To Rule The World". She asked how it went, and I said that I couldn't play it for her because I didn't have my iPod, but that maybe the 80s station would play it in the next 10 minutes before we got to Ellie's. And guess what? It came on! I told A that she was my lucky charm since she had asked me about it.

M asked me at one point yesterday, "Mommy, if you die and I am still alive, will I get all of your money?"

Today, the girls wanted to have a lemonade stand, so we set one up at the end of the street, timing it to catch some of the Sukkot festival traffic leaving Temple Sinai. We sold punch and lemonade for 25 cents a cup, and small cookies for 2 for 25 cents. The girls made $16!! Lots of people came by.

This afternoon after the lemonade stand, we came home and did some stuff here – gardened a little and played Sleeping Queens. We had dinner at a new pizza place with Sarah and Hannah and Andrew, which was fun, and then came home and had bath/ice cream and read 30 pages of All-of-a-Kind Family, which we need to finish by next Sunday for our first Mother-Daughter Book Club meeting.

The girls are now asleep – they were tired!!!

Some pictures. First, the kitchen, which is almost done. M helped me make banana bread.

And here are some from the lemonade stand. I recycled some signs that the girls had made when they were 4 or 5 for a previous lemonade stand, which I had saved. And they made some new ones today. SO CUTE.

What a wonderful way to start the New Year. Your weekend was so fun-filled. M and A asked some interesting questions. Their little minds just don’t stop. So cute!
Love the photos of the girls and their lemonade/cookie stand. And your kitchen looks wonderful. Cooking and baking will be a joy.
Love,
Aunt Ann
