For a run-of-the-mill June Saturday, a lot actually happened!
First, M&A both played in the Deal Breakers soccer game! M played soccer for the first time – goalie, for the whole hour. She did a great job – the game was tied at the end and the three goals scored were impossible for her to block. And A had a powerhouse defense day. Congrats to both of them!
Then N went with Daddy off to Miles' birthday party. Despite some drama about who is friends with whom (aren't boys not supposed to be like that?), it was a good time.
And M, A and I went to Nats Park for a free Nats viewing party. The Nats are on the road, but we got to lie on the outfield, and walk around the field, the dugout, the warning track, etc. to watch the game live. It was very hot but we had a really good time and felt very lucky to be there. Not many people were there, which was crazy!
Tonight we went out for a pizza winner with a family from Deal who is Danish. They have a son in M&A's class and Daddy has worked with the dad through State Dept. It was fun.
We're all tired – it's late and N JUST went sleep. Tomorrow is another big day – we're driving to Camp Louise for a pre-camp open house!
2 cute things from N. First, he and Daddy read Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No-Good, Very Bad Day, and Daddy asked him if he had ever had a day like that, and N said no! And then tonight, I told him that it was very important that he know that Daddy and I love him very much and think he is wonderful, and he said, yes, he knows, and he thinks about it at night when he's in bed sleeping and wakes up, and it makes him very happy.
