What A Weekend! WARNING: LONG POST AHEAD

Wow. That was a weekend.

SO, SO much going on.

I was too busy and tired to post over the weekend, so I will have to try to sum up here and include some pics.

First, we had the girls' graduation party on Friday night. For all of our worrying about weather and COVID and numbers and competing parties… it went really well. Dad was feeling fine, he stayed outside with a mask on, the weather was PERFECT, and a ton of people came. We had plenty of food and dessert. The kids' friends stayed for a long time; the s'mores bar was a hit; Weiswassers represented – Grampy, Grandma Sandy and the Montclair 4; and Grandma Dina and Grandpa Ron were there in spirit. It was all perfect! The backyard had plenty of room. The little centerpieces looked great. I didn't take any pics once the party started – I was too busy with guests – but here are some from beforehand:

In addition to the party, a lot of other things happened on this gorgeous, start of summer June weekend.

Nate had his 10th birthday party at ZavaZone. In attendance: Cole, Ayan, Wilson, Charlie, Allen, Nathan and Lowell. It went well – the boys did a ton of jumping and climbing and running around, and then had pizza and cupcakes. Dad has a million pics and I'll share more tomorrow.

There was a special event for seniors and their parents at Sidwell. The parents prepared skits and songs and videos making fun of Sidwell. There was a lot of prep leading up to the event -rehearsals, etc – and it all went well. I sang and danced in the opening number, an adaptation of "Feeling 22" by Taylor Swift.  I am glad it's over. I think A liked it, though it was kind of embarrassing for the seniors (intentionally). The best part was this baby morphing video, where baby pics morphed in to senior pics. It was the best. I am hoping they will circulate it.

There was also a Meeting For Worship yesterday for seniors and their parents. Lots of seniors spoke about what Sidwell meant to them. Not one person talked about academics – it was all about friendships. Really sweet.

N scored a goal in his soccer game on Saturday AM. This was his first of the season. Great job, N!!! His baseball team was sadly eliminated from the playoffs. I am sad that the season is over. It was hard – tons of rainouts, not a lot of practices. Not the easiest baseball season.

N's school had a Vocabulary Parade on Friday. I didn't know what it was and didn't realize that it was something parents could and should attend. Thankfully someone sent me a pic. N and Ayan dressed as the word "fan".

N also had a personal timeline project due last Friday. Here is his poster. He used – day he was born, first birthday, first day of preschool, first day of Pre-K, moving to new house, Nats win the World Series, first day of CCES, playing baseball.

So, so much going on in this compressed little time period. Whew.
