We atoned, we fasted, we ate. That's pretty much Yom Kippur in a nutshell.
Other memories of today:
1) I volunteered at the library this afternoon and stopped by N's classroom on the way out. He was SO happy to see me. What a joy to see his reaction when he heard I was outside his door. His teacher – a substitute – pointed at N and said to me, "He's doing great!"
2) M wanted Silly Putty because she saw someone (Max) playing with it at services. When we got to CP, she didn't want it anymore but wanted some fidget bubble squeezy thing that was way more expensive than it should have been. She was very cranky when I said that I wouldn't buy it. When I tried to get her Silly Putty, she pouted and said it sucked. (You'd think from this story that M was 6, not 14!) (She later apologized.)
3) A dancing around the house playing recorder like she was at the Kennedy Center. Hard to explain. M took video which maybe I should share.
4) Grampy came over and gave A a running watch he's not using. She's very excited!
5) The girls reuniting with their Lafayette friends at the Aladjems' break fast tonight. It was very late – 8:30 – and we were all starving – but it was really fun in the end. Proud of the girls for fasting!
6) N giving me many spontaneous hugs today for no reason or for little reason. What a great boy.
7) Yummy dinner with Grandma Sandy last night. She brought a Caesar salad. Yum.
8) A singing a YK song before we even walked into BCC today, then saying "I am singing this now since we're a little late and we'll miss it there" and then walking in as that same song was starting up in the auditorium.
9) A almost in tears when she saw her new room chandelier today. She loves it.
OK, it's late. Time for bed. Happy new year.
