We had a great time visiting N at camp the past few days!!
He seems to be having a great summer. His cabinmates seem very nice (and no drama), and we met his counselors too. He is trying some new activities – tennis, climbing – and will probably go on another trip in the second session. His cabin is filled with kids – and he has his little tchotches all over the place – and it’s so cute. It all seems very positive and good. The weather was lovely too.
We picked him up at 9:30 on Monday and he was near the waterfront. We met some of his friends and counselors there, plus his tennis instructor, and then headed to his cabin, A-7. He packed up some stuff and then left with us. We first went to the hotel and then to his favorite Duluth lunch spot: Duluth Grill. Then it was off to my favorite Duluth bookstore: Zenith Bookstore. Then we went to Target to get toothpaste, candy to sneak in, and some sunblock. Oh and some Poppi. THEN we got him a $6 hair trim (just the back and the sideburns). And then it was off to Dick’s for some new hiking boots (he had borrowed camp’s) and a tennis racket (he had been borrowing camp’s). That was too much shopping for Dad so we headed back to the hotel to decompress.
We FaceTimed with the girls, and then watched the Home Run Derby until we got bored and hungry, and then ventured through sketchy deserted Duluth to a very yummy sushi place. I think we were all getting a little sad at that point. 🙁
Back to the hotel, N took a long shower (he called it a “deep clean”), and then we went to bed.
This morning he had breakfast at the hotel – Froot Loops! Pancakes! Peanut Butter And Jelly On An English Muffin! – and took him back to camp. He snuck in a bunch of candy in his laundry bag and we really hope it wasn’t confiscated. Then we said goodbye and he headed out on a fun excursion at a water park.
Four more weeks and we see him again!!!

There is a great pic of the three of us from last night but Dad is in Seattle and it’s on his phone. I’ll get it.
Now I am watching the ASG with M and it is good to be home with her and H.
